The function of the ASI Safety & Legislative Advisory Board is to openly discuss product safety and legislative issues. They share their knowledge, experience and insight to help address and build awareness of issues pertaining to product safety, while strategizing on how to protect members and end-users.

In 2001, Kathy Knight joined Leed's, a PCNA company, as the Director of Finance. She brought to the company over 10 years of financial management experience in varied industries. In this role, she oversaw the financial departments including reporting, credit and collections, accounts payable, invoicing and compliance. In 2007, she relocated with her family to Miami, Florida to join Bullet Line and to develop its financial department and to integrate it as the latest member of the PCNA group of families.

In 2010, she relocated back to Pittsburgh where she accepted the Director of Supply Chain Operations role at Leed's where she is accountable for the logistics area including compliance, inbound logistics, inventory planning, quality, reporting, the WorldSource custom direct import business operations and inventory control. Ms. Knight started her career in public accounting and received a B.S. in Business Administration at Robert Morris University.

Don received his BA from Rollins College, and his MBA from the University of Colorado in 1992, (Marketing – Entrepreneur program).

Along with partner Tom Noyes, Don started Bloomin Promotions in 1994 and joined ASI in 2000 (40646). He has served on several advisory boards including a current presidential role with Employment Link- (a nationally recognized supported employment organization that helps differently-abled individuals gain inclusive employment with Colorado employers). He has extensive experience with legislative issues to promote better state and Medicaid funding for the Employment Link group. He has helped his own company design and implement an extensive safety program to comply with changing industry safety and social accountability standards. His company Bloomin', has been actively involved in researching and complying with seed related product safety and germination testing throughout their 16 year history. He has extensive knowledge of international shipping requirements and legislative issues, as well as a strong working knowledge of all international agricultural requirements. Their company has been awarded several awards, from local agencies, The University of Colorado, The State of Colorado, and the Promotional Products Industry, including the star supplier award, employer of the year, and recently, the Governors Award for Excellence in Exporting.

Kim Newell is the president of World Wide Lines, Inc. (asi/98290). She has been in the promotional products industry for eight years, and has an extensive background in sales, marketing, purchasing and manufacturing. She started her promotional products career at World Wide and has served in areas such as purchasing, director of sales and vice president of operations before taking the president's role in 2007. She is committed to the growth of World Wide and maintaining the company's high standard of quality and service that has been a tradition for over 60 years. She is also a tireless advocate of the as specialty industry as a whole and its direction in the future.

Terry McGuire is the senior vice president of marketing and vendor relations for HALO/Lee Wayne (asi/356000). He has been in the as specialty industry for 24 years, holding positions in executive sales, marketing and business development positions with industry distributors and suppliers. He has served on the PPAI Distributors Committee and just completed a term on the board of directors for PPEF (Promotional Products Education Foundation).

McGuire says, "Product safety is a growing concern for promotional products buyers. Providing clients with confidence in the products they purchase from industry professionals is an essential part of maintaining our share of clients' promotional budgets. Increasing ASI members' knowledge of product safety, combined with legislative activism, are key components to maintaining the health of our industry."

With over 25 years experience in both soft-lines and hard-lines, LeeAnn Schumacher has worked in all facets of supply chain management including merchandising, supplier partnerships, inventory management and product development.

She is currently responsible for the sourcing of product, negotiating supplier terms and conditions, forecasting, procurement, and inventory management for Summit Group. Ms. Schumacher attends national trade shows to gather creative and unique ideas for Summit's clients for their recognition, incentive and promotional product online catalog programs.

LeeAnn holds a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising from Bauder Fashion College in Miami, Florida.

Dave Thompson is the president and CEO of National Pen (asi/281040). National Pen has been in the promotional products industry for nearly 50 years and has been widely recognized for leadership in printing and marketing capabilities. Prior to joining National Pen, Thompson was the president and CEO of Saepio Technologies, which specializes in the development of marketing software and asset management solutions for brand management applications powering localization and personalization of branded collateral. Prior to Saepio, he was the president of Didde Web Press, a press equipment manufacturer. He also spent many years with DuPont domestically and internationally in sales, marketing and business management roles throughout DuPont's printing business.

Ted Fuehr is the President of Incentives International, Inc. in Overland Park, Kansas. We are a full service promotional products agency. We have extensive background working hand in hand with domestic suppliers who produce many orders for us in the Pacific Rim.

Ted has served in various roles including President of the Promotional Products Association of the Midwest. He has served on the Marketing and Information committee and is currently a member of the RAC board for PPAI.

Rick Rayl is Vice President of Purchasing and Operations for Bensussen Deutsch & Associates, Inc. (asi/37616). After completing a 10 year retail career with Nordstrom, Rick joined BDA in 1996 where he has developed the supply chain domestically and in China. Currently, the BDA supply chain consists of QA/QC offices in Hong Kong and China, 400,000 sq. ft of worldwide distribution centers, a Supplier Alliance Network, and C-TPAT certified logistics infrastructure. He is a recognized industry expert in the field of safety and compliance, a six sigma black belt, and is among the founders of QCA.
